June 2019

Summer is here!   At GFP, our commitment is to help you to preserve your assets and protect your lifestyle. Our mission is to provide education, advice, and perspective on retirement and investment planning.  We are focused on you, your family, your goals and are committed to providing you thoughtful planning coupled with a personalized investment plan.

This month’s The Guardian Standard Newsletter discusses part 3 of our 4-part series on investing and the stock market. We also discuss the importance of having a financial plan and share some useful apps to download if you plan to travel this summer.  Lookout next month as we wrap up the 4-part series with how GFP’s Dynamic Risk Asset Allocation Sleeves (DRAAMS) investment management platform can offer a solution for the active management of your assets to address some of the potential risks we have discussed in the series. Enjoy!

The Nikkei 225: 1985 to the Present - What Can We Learn?

In April, we discussed the volatile, side trending stock bear market of 1965 to 1982, if you missed it, you can view it here. In May we discussed the multi-decade trend of declining interest rates, you can view it here. In part 3 of 4 of our educational discussion about past markets and investment environments, we discuss the similarities between the United States and Japan. Although the past cannot predict the future, it can provide us valuable information and perspective, and is an excellent tool for sound planning and decision-making.

As we continue to educate you and fulfill our role as your personal fiduciary, we hope part 3 of 4 provides you helpful knowledge towards fulfilling your long-term lifestyle and retirement goals. Click here to view the article.

Is it Important to have a Financial Plan?

Your answer may depend on your stage of life, financial situation, or your personality. While we can cite several logical reasons why everyone should have a plan, we think the biggest reason is simple…..peace of mind. No matter who you are we know people, in general, appreciate peace of mind. Whether it be with your finances, relationships, career or life path, having peace of mind is an incredible feeling that puts you on the road to living a great life. At GFP, our True Financial Planning approach matches your stage in life, financial situation, and your personality. We have “long versions” and “short versions” both with the goal of helping you figure out where you want to be and how to get there. Our recommendation for planning is simple….don’t wait. Most people wait until something pushes them to start. However, the “push” is usually a wake-up call like a big market correction, loss of a family member or fear of being pushed into early retirement. Waiting until a stressful situation to begin your planning process only leads to more stress which is the opposite of creating peace of mind. If you want to start the planning process or revisit your existing plan, please reply to this email to set up a time to start a discussion.
